A printer for Capoeira

capoeira

What is it about?

ADCC FILHOS DE GHANDI is a Capoeira sport association in Brazil.

Mestre Gildasio started a project in which kids and adults that live in the favelas of Sao Paulo can learn how to play Capoeira.

The project helps the kids to stay away from the street and gain self-confidence. Moreover, Capoeira teaches to carefully observe and respect the other since in Capoeira you do not β€˜hit’ someone but answer every movement with acountermovement.

Why do they need our help?

The project of Mestre Gildasio is non-governmental and depends on donations.

Until now, Mestre Gildasio managed to gain all the donations from within Brazil and thanks to a lot of voluntary work.

Yet, recently their printer stopped working and buying one is expensive and difficult to do. The project however requires a printer in order to distribute the message, apply for founding and reach the community.

Who does this and why?

I am Annika Meuche. One of the members of the “HelloEverybody! Hilversum” group.

In 2009/2010 I worked in a social project in Brazil. Besides my voluntary work, I did a lot of Capoeira.

Mestre Gildasio is my friend and my teacher.

He is currently searching for funds and reached out to me. He told me that he would be very happy to offer online Capoeira classes for those willing to learn.

In exchange for a contribution to the funding, you will have a free Capoeira workshop to attend to.

If you don’t want to join the workshop but still like to contribute to his project, you are still more than welcome to donate whatever you want πŸ™‚
